Typically, tourists visit tourist places for their inherent natural or cultural value and for their beauty or amusement. However, there are certain cases when a place is visited for its historical significance.

Washington, D.C.

Located on the Potomac River, Washington, DC, is the United States capital city. It is also the site of many important government buildings, such as the White House and the Capitol. The area has become a center of international affairs and is home to diplomatic institutions, such as the Organization of American States and the World Bank.
